Trevor Sinclair absolutely raved about reported West Ham target Ollie Watkins, when speaking to Jim White today on talkSPORT (18 March, 10am).
The Sun claimed earlier this month that the Hammers want to sign the 24-year-old Brentford hitman in the summer.
And he could be available for around £20 million, according to the Sun.
Watkins has been on fire for the Bees in the Championship this season, having racked up 22 goals in 37 games (Who Scored).
In 37 league outings this season, the striker has averaged 2.6 shots on goal per game, and he has won an average of two aerial duals per match. Watkins has also averaged 0.7 dribbles and 1.5 key passes per game during that period (Who Scored).
He is very clearly a real talent, and now seems like the right time for him to make the step up in his footballing career.
Sinclair – a West Ham legend, raved about the Brentford hitman, when speaking to Jim White today on talkSPORT (18 March, 10am), whilst suggesting that he has heard the Hammers are in for the 24-year-old:
“I believe one of my former clubs are looking at him. He’s not a young player, he’s got great experience. He’s a great kid, he’s got that ambition and he knows there’s a bright future for him. If he did get the move (to the Premier League) would he be able to step up to the international squad?”
West Ham are in desperate need of another top class goalscorer at the end of this season. Sebastien Haller and Albian Ajeti have failed to impress since joining the Hammers last summer.
And Watkins would be a very welcome addition to David Moyes’s side.
Trevor Sinclair summed him up perfectly. The 24-year-old has the ambition to succeed. He just needs to be provided with the platform to showcase how good he is.
