West Ham United have launched a last gasp bid for one of the stars of last season, Chelsea’s Fikayo Tomori.

Former Chelsea hate figure the man behind latest West Ham transfer

Last month the likes of The Sun claimed Tomori’s Chelsea future was in doubt as he could be offered to West Ham as part of a potential deal for Declan Rice.

West Ham boss David Moyes is desperate for defensive reinforcements.

Moyes hunt for defenders proves fruitless as deadline looms

The Hammers have been linked with a host of centre-backs throughout the window from Shane Duffy to Jonathan Tah.

West Ham have failed to conclude any of those reported deals, though.

Only right-back Vladimir Coufal has arrived so far.

Now according to the ever reliable ExWHUemployee, West Ham have turned their attention to a last ditch move for Tomori.

The centre-back broke into the Chelsea side after Frank Lampard’s arrival last term.

Tomori also received an England call-up after making an impressive start to life in the Premier League with the Blues.

Frank Lampard signed Thiago Silva this summer, though and prefers Kurt Zouma alongside the Brazilian.

Taking to Twitter ExWHUemployee revealed West Ham’s interest this evening.

And it has come to light after Tottenham’s move for Tomori’s Chelsea teammate Antonio Rudiger came to nothing.

“Tomori looks to be our latest target after Rudiger’s move to Spurs has fallen through,” ExWHUemployee said on Twitter.

West Ham fans would be happy to see such a talented player arrive.

Young star more in line with Red Bull vision

And it is more in line with Moyes’s vision to emulate the Red Bull model of signing young, hungry players.

Whether West Ham can get a deal over the line before 11pm remains to be seen.

Should the Hammers fail to get any players in before the international and top flight deadline attention would then turn to players in the Championship.
