West Ham have been mentioned as one of the clubs interested in signing PSV Eindhoven star Steven Bergwijn, according to The Sun.
Manchester United are ready to step up their hunt for Bergwijn, while Tottenham Hotspur are also reportedly interested.
But the Champions League chasing pair face competition from West Ham and Bournemouth, while Serie A side Inter Milan are also interested.
Bergwijn has been impressing scouts for PSV and is likely to cost around £20m, as per this report.
Who is Steven Bergwijn?
PSV winger Bergwijn has been catching the eye this season with some impressive displays. The 21-year-old has played 17 Eredivisie games for PSV, racking up a stunning tally of nine goals and eight assists for the Dutch giants.
Bergwijn has also registered one assist in five Champions League games. And Spurs and Inter have had the chance to scout him firsthand during these games.
The twice-capped Netherlands international is rated as one of the hottest young talents in Holland. So it is no surprise to see many clubs chasing him.
What could he add at West Ham?
Having signed Samir Nasri in late December, attacking midfield is not an area that needs immediate attention at West Ham.
With Robert Snodgrass, Felipe Anderson, Grady Diangana and Michail Antonio also available, Manuel Pellegrini has options out wide.
And Manuel Lanzini and Andriy Yarmolenko should both return for the summer too. Therefore, Pellegrini would have more creative options in midfield.
But the chance to sign a talented youngster like Bergwijn for just £25m might be too good to resist and he is one of Europe’s best young talents.
