West Ham have been heavily linked with Chelsea forward Olivier Giroud (Calcio Mercato & The Daily Mail).

And reports abound that David Moyes will try again for Barcelona’s Martin Braithwaite after coming close to signing him in the summer (AS).

West Ham striker targets among the goals again

West Ham insiders Claret & Hugh have claimed Moyes is on the lookout for a new striker in January.

And another forward the Hammers tried to sign in the last window, King, is said to be his priority.

But while Giroud and Braithwaite were among the goals again this week, King was nowhere to be seen in the Championship.

Fresh from scoring the winner over Rennes last week, Giroud scored FOUR goals as Chelsea beat Sevilla 4-0 last night.

Moyes priority King dethroned at Bournemouth

West Ham target Braithwaite is widely expected to be shipped out of Barca in January.

And he got his fourth goal of the season as the Catalan giants beat Ferencvaros 3-0.

Whether these performances and goals diminish West Ham’s chances of signing Giroud or Braithwaite remains to be seen.

But it will certainly give Moyes some thinking to do given his other big target King is nowhere to be seen at the moment.

King has made just three appearances for the Cherries this season.

And he was not even in the squad as Bournemouth lost 3-2 to Preston on Tuesday night.

Goals and lack of game time for trio of targets create January problem for Hammers

Moyes will want a striker who can hit the ground running in January.

And King’s lack of game time and fitness could be an issue, particularly if West Ham are having to pay our a relatively large sum for a player who has six months left on his contract.

Currently Moyes has just two strikers in his squad, Michail Antonio and Sebastien Haller.

Antonio is injury-prone and Haller – while improved of late – continues to divide opinion and has struggled to win Moyes’s faith.
