Marko Arnautovic has finally left West Ham for Shanghai SIPG, according to the Guardian.
The Austrian cost the Chinese club £22.4 million, and Hammers fans will surely be delighted to see the back of the forward.
The reported fee is a decent money for an extremely troublesome 30-year-old, but how much will West Ham actually make from the deal?
According to The Times, Stoke City inserted a 20% sell-on clause when they sold Arnautovic to the Hammers two years ago.
That would mean that the Potters are in line to receive £4.48 million from the east London outfit.
According to well-renowned West Ham insider, however, that doesn’t appear to be the case.
He claims that the 20% clause is only in effect for any profit made by the Hammers.
West Ham signed Arnautovic for £20 million. So they have made a £2.4 million profit by selling him, hence Stoke will allegedly be due to receive just £480,000 from the deal.
And that will be great news for the Hammers, if true of course.
West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini will surely be happy to have finally got shot of the Austrian.
And now the hard work really begins.
He needs to sign an established forward if his side are to make a sustained push for the top seven next season.
Many Hammers fans will be praying that that man is Maxi Gomez.
Whether the east London outfit can convince him into joining them, however remains to be seen.
