West Ham United are allegedly keen to sign Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins in the summer transfer window.

That’s according to club insiders Claret and Hugh who claim that Hammers boss David Moyes has been seriously tracking the 26-year-old Aston Villa hitman recently.

Centre-forward is obviously the position in most urgent need of strengthening at the London Stadium in the summer.

Michail Antonio is currently the only option Moyes has at his disposal through the middle.

And that quite clearly isn’t acceptable for a club with supposed ambitions of challenging for honours both domestically and on the continent.

If we are to make some genuine progress as a football club over the next few years, the addition of a top-class striker in the summer transfer window will be vitally important. And it seems like Moyes has one man in particular in mind…

West Ham eyeing Ollie Watkins swoop

Claret and Hugh claim that the 26-year-old Aston Villa forward is a priority transfer target for the Hammers this summer.

The West Ham insiders suggest that Villans boss Steven Gerrard has no intention of letting Watkins leave Villa Park, although that apparently won’t stop the East London outfit from trying to sign him.

We strongly believe that the former Brentford hitman would be the perfect summer signing for the Hammers.

Watkins is absolutely rapid and is always prepared to make the tireless runs into the channels in order to create space for this teammates.

The 26-year-old is a constant menace for opposing defenders and never gives them a minute’s rest. The Villa ace is a good finisher as well.

He has bagged 25 goals in 69 games for Villa (Transfermarkt). Not the best return but certainly not the worst either.

Watkins can certainly improve even more, but even as he is, he would be literally tailor made for West Ham and our current setup.

The former Brentford ace has absolutely everything that David Moyes usually looks for in a striker.

There is one huge problem that West Ham will face. If Aston Villa are to be tempted into selling him, they will demand around £50 million for his services according to The Metro.

That’s a serious amount of cash and it is unclear as to whether the Hammers owners will be prepared to break the bank on just one player in the summer.

The thing is, if West Ham want to mix it with the big boys, the owners will have to spend that kind of money on players like Ollie Watkins.

As mentioned earlier, the 26-year-old is absolutely perfect for us. And the Hammers board should do everything within their power to force Villa into selling the English striker in the summer transfer window.
