Hammers fans floated a theory that there is some kind of clause pertaining to how many games the 25-year-old winger plays for the club this season that if not fulfilled could render our obligation to buy him null and void come the summer.

That appears to be wide of the mark, however.

Said Benrahma joined the Hammers on a season-long loan from Brentford in October for £4 million (Eurosport).

The east London club have an obligation to buy the Algeria international for £25 million in the summer (Eurosport).

David Moyes has eased the 25-year-old in very slowly at the London Stadium. Before West Ham’s game against Brighton on December 27th, Benrahma had made just two starts since signing for the club in October.

West Ham deal to sign Said Benrahma a foregone conclusion?

Against the Seagulls, the Algerian wasn’t brought on off the bench, even when we were chasing the game.

That led some Hammers fans to question whether there is some kind of clause in the winger’s contract that would render our obligation to buy him in the summer null and void if he doesn’t play a certain amount of games.

Claret and Hugh have poured cold water on that suggestion, however.

The Hammers insiders suggest that the only thing that could thwart a long term deal is the completion of his summer medical which saw him needing to take new blood tests.

Hopefully that will not be a problem. It shouldn’t be anyway.

And that really is great news for West Ham fans.
