Another day brings another Maxi Gomez twist for West Ham United it seems.
With more “reported” twists than the Orbital tower outside the London Stadium, there has been an almost relentless stream of updates on West Ham’s move for the Uruguayan.
Manuel Pellegrini has been chasing the Celta Vigo and Uruguay forward since January.
And West Ham are determined to bring the player to East London.

Pellegrini pushing Gomez interest to the Maxi-mum
With less than two months to go time may be ticking but by the same token there is plenty of it left.
Progress was expected to be slow given the level of interest in the player and his participation in the Copa America.
Just two weeks ago the deal was being reported in some quarters as ‘dead’ or at best ‘unlikely’.
The latest line, from Spain, though served to ramp up the expectations of West Ham fans once again.

New report claims ‘terms agreed’
According to Spanish website Fichajes.com Gomez has ‘agreed personal terms’ with West Ham.
The full translated transcript of the article is as follows:
Maxi Gomez has reached an agreement with West Ham United to play in the Premier League starting next year. There is nothing agreed between clubs, at least for now, but it seems that the London team has advanced in the race for the Uruguayan. The Celta de Vigo striker, who is concentrated with Uruguay in the Copa América, is also sought by other clubs, such as Valencia CF. However, it seems that the project headed by Manuel Pellegrini is more attractive to Maxi Gómez, 22 years old.
Of course that had West Ham fans salivating at the prospect of Gomez leading the line in the claret and blue.
It is quite some prospect. The 22-year-old playing alongside West Ham talents such as Marko Arnautovic, Felipe Anderson, Pablo Fornals, Manuel Lanzini, Andriy Yarmolenko and Jack Wilshere to name but a few.
And playing on a solid foundation, the bedrock of which should hopefully be Declan Rice and Issa Diop.
But West Ham fans should not get carried away just yet.
That’s the view of reliable insider ExWHUemployee.

Insider delivers his verdict
The Twitter and radio personality was asked about the latest reports by several supporters. And he delivered his verdict with a large jug of cold water.
“Fiction,” he said in a post that no longer appears to be available.
“Considering Celta are playing very hard with this deal. They haven’t accepted an offer yet (as tweet says) if we were to have been found to agree personal terms with the player that is effectively tapping up. Yes it does happen but rarely in this circumstances.”
The insider then followed that up later with another post when asked who to believe amidst all the claims and counter claims circulating in the press and on social media.
“There are accounts springing up again, as they do every window, pretty sure the same people are behind them too,” ExWHUemployee said.
“That are making guesses. I would chose the sources you think are reliable and have a track record and stick with them.”
