Hammers boss David Moyes is desperate to bring a new centre-forward to the London Stadium before the transfer window slams shut at the end of this month.

Barcelona forward Braithwaite is a name who has been persistently linked with a move to West Ham since Sebastien Haller left for Ajax back in January.

The Hammers fans are far from happy with the prospect of the Denmark attacker rocking up in East London.

It may be a case of anyone is better than nobody, however.

Foot Mercato reckon the Hammers are currently in discussions with the La Liga giants to sign the 30-year-old forward.

He is said to be available for around £16 million this summer (Sport).

The Dane is a real journeyman in every sense. The general consensus is that David Moyes could and should be setting his sights a lot higher than Braithwaite.

The Barca forward is nowhere near clinical enough.

He has only 93 goals in 401 games to his name (Transfermarkt)! West Ham need to sign a proven goalscorer this summer.

Having said all of that, the Barcelona man does work hard and he is always a willing runner. If the choice is between signing nobody or bringing in the 30-year-old we would have to choose the latter.

This summer has been underwhelming to say the least. Signing Braithwaite might not be the answer but it would be the lesser of two evils.
