Julen Lopetegui is apparently in a strong position to bring a truly outstanding midfielder to West Ham United this summer.
West Ham head coach Julen Lopetegui has overseen quite the squad overhaul at the London Stadium over the past month or so.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka became the Hammers’ eighth summer signing today, but amazingly, more could be on the way.
After so many big signings, Lopetegui will now be trying to move on some of the deadwood, with the likes of Danny Ings being lined up for the chop.
However, if the West Ham head coach manages to move on two or three fringe players, there will definitely be space for one or two more new additions.
And one name in particular seems to be right in the Hammers’ crosshairs this summer…
Julen Lopetegui closes in on 9th summer deal for West Ham
The Spaniard has been relentless in his approach to strengthening his squad at the London Stadium this summer.
Kudos to David Sullivan and Tim Steidten as well for helping facilitate the eight incredible deals we’ve secured already.

However, the next deal in the pipeline really could be the icing on the cake for West Ham.
Le Parisien are claiming that West Ham are in pole position to sign Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Carlos Soler.
It was claimed late last night that the Hammers will have to pay just £17 million to sign the 27-year-old from PSG.
For that kind of money, Soler would be a truly incredible addition to Lopetegui’s ranks at the London Stadium.
The 14-capped Spain international is an outstanding footballer, and he would take us to an entirely new level as far as strength in depth is concerned.
He contributed two goals and two assists in 24 Ligue 1 games for PSG last season, but only 12 of those appearances were starts.
Despite playing just 1,089 minutes in the league last season, the Spain international still averaged 30.8 passes per game, and registered a completion rate of 87.5% (Who Scored).
His ability on the ball and cool and composed nature makes him ideally suited to Lopetegui’s system, with the West Ham boss keen for his team to play out from the back and on into midfield.
This window continues to get better and better for the Hammers. And if Julen Lopetegui brings Carlos Soler to West Ham this summer, we really will be in dreamland.
