West Ham United are in ‘early stage contacts’ to sign World Cup winning midfielder Steven N’Zonzi.
That’s according to reports from France overnight.
Telefoot (as also reported by Get French Football News) made the claim and report that the Hammers face competition from Everton.
West Ham have been regularly linked with N’Zonzi since the summer of 2018 (The Sun).
But he moved to Roma instead and was part of France’s World Cup winning team in Russia.

French media claim West Ham are in ‘early stage contacts’ over N’Zonzi
The rangy box-to-box midfielder could finally be on his way to West Ham, though.
That’s if Telefoot are to be believed.
The 31-year-old, who is currently on loan from AS Roma at Galatasaray, wants to leave the Turkish side halfway through this agreement.

Midfielder prefers Prem return
The report claims N’Zonzi prefers a return to England where he played for Blackburn and Stoke, either permanently or on an initial loan.
And that would suit West Ham who can solve a problem position without breaking the bank.
It would also give the Hammers the chance to gauge whether N’Zonzi can still cut it in the Premier League.
Telefoot claims N’Zonzi is not at the top of West Ham or Everton’s shortlist.

Is N’Zonzi Moyes’s Fernandes back-up?
That suggests recent West Ham links to Portuguese wonderkid Gedson Fernandes could have legs (Sky Sports).
David Moyes may well have N’Zonzi lined up as his back-up if that particular move does not come off.
Ideally West Ham should be looking to sign young, rising stars rather than players looking for one last big move.
But it may prove to be the best the Hammers can get, until the summer at least.
