West Ham are deep in negotiations with four targets as the clock ticks down to the 7pm deadline – one of them being a highly-rated young German star – while a Newcastle deal is also a possibility.

The Hammers face a race against time to bring in the signings needed to bolster Graham Potter’s squad before the summer transfer window deadline.

Meanwhile Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe is also very busy with Alexander Isak on his way out to Liverpool and the Magpies finally signing Yoan Wissa from Brentford.

Newcastle beat West Ham to the signing of Jacob Ramsey.

West Ham have signed six players so far this summer, the latest two being the most exciting with the £60m arrival of midfield duo Mateus Fernandes and Soungoutou Magassa.

The Hammers are clearly still short in several areas of the pitch, though.

Especially with Emerson Palmieri and Nayef Aguerd joining Marseille together.

Error-prone centre-back Aguerd refused to play for West Ham at Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given Aguerd’s woeful form as a West Ham player since the club drastically overpaid £30m for him, the Hammers kept a clean sheet without him.

West Ham actually beat Newcastle to the signing of Aguerd.

But the Hammers did the Geordies a big favour as the Moroccan is ill-equipped to deal with the rigours of the English game.

So much so that Aguerd was sent out on loan to Real Sociedad last season.

Now he has joined Marseille in a £17.5m deadline day move which West Ham stated would be key to any last minute arrivals in a transfer update on deadline day morning.

As the 7pm deadline looms large, West Ham are holding talks with four targets including a young German star and could make a late Newcastle move.

One of the finest moments in modern Hammers history was that night in Prague two years ago.

Lucas Paqueta put Jarrod Bowen through to hit a last minute winner and send West Ham fans delirious the world over.

Well now the Hammers look set for a last minute deal involving a player who played a big part in West Ham’s historical triumph for all the wrong reasons.

Igor medical as Hammers eye Disasi and young German star

Muscle-bound Brazilian defender Igor Julio came on for Fiorentina in that game with the match heading for penalties at 1-1.

But despite having fresh legs, Igor was left for dead by Bowen as he slotted home the trophy clincher.

Fiorentina boss at the time, Vincenzo Italiano, went apoplectic at Igor on the sidelines and confronted him for trying to play Bowen offside in the dying stages.

Igor was then bombed out of the club by Italiano and ended up at Brighton, where he has barely played.

The 27-year-old centre-back, who can also play left-back, looked set for a deadline day move to Brighton’s bitter rivals Crystal Palace.

But in a sensational twist, talkSPORT duo Alex Crook and Ben Jacobs claim Igor is now set to join the Hammers instead.

Hammers News understands the deal would be an initial loan with an option to buy from Potter’s former club and that Igor is on his way to east London for a medical.

That has also been confirmed by West Ham insider Sean Whetstone, who counts David Sullivan as a close confidant.

Meanwhile West Ham are also in talks with Chelsea about signing centre-back Axel Disasi – as reported by Hammers News on deadline day morning.

Disasi was actually recommended to West Ham by sporting director Mark Noble when the Frenchman was still at Monaco.

Now he may finally be set to join the east Londoners after a failed spell at Chelsea.

Football journalist Pete O’Rourke claims West Ham are in talks with Chelsea over a loan deal for Disasi.

West Ham could make late Newcastle move for Murphy

A completely new name in the defensive frame has emerged from Guardian journalist Jacob Steinberg.

The reporter claims West Ham are exploring a loan deal for Braga defender Bright Arrey-Mbi.

Steinberg says there is a possibility of an option to buy for Germany Under-21 international.

Meanwhile, Hammers insider ExWHUemployee claims West Ham could try to reach a compromise as talks continue with Toulouse for centre-back Charlie Cresswell.

Speaking on his West Ham Way Patreon, ExWHUemployee states the Irons have seen a loan deal turned down for England Under 21 star Cresswell due to the obligation amount.

Meanwhile the same source has claimed West Ham are keeping a watchful eye on the situation at Newcastle.

Because the Hammers could make a move to sign Magpies winger Jacob Murphy on an initial loan deal.

The rapid star finds himself down the pecking order at St James’ Park following the arrivals of Ramsey and Anthony Elanga while Wissa can also play out wide if needed too.

Murphy would bring plenty of pace to the West Ham ranks, something that proved to be a game-changer for the Hammers at Forest, as evidenced by Fernandes and the returning Crysencio Summerville.
