West Ham United’s long-running pursuit of Celta Vigo defender and Spain international Oscar Mingueza is likely to come to an end this summer.
Though whether this ends with the former Barcelona kid wearing the claret and blue kit of the East London outfit, only time will tell.
According to Diario AS, Oscar Mingueza is set to change his agent and turn down a contract extension with a summer switch to the Premier League anticipated.

Three at the back? Another start for Kante and Pablo?
Hammers News can confirm that Mingueza was a West Ham target last summer. The four-time Spain international has talked up the Hammers in the past as well, calling them a ‘great team’.
Whether Mingueza ever becomes a West Ham United player, though, well that remains to be seen.

According to AS, Mingueza is moving on from long-term agent Josep Maria Orobitg.
Celta Vigo were initially confident of tying the 26-year-old down to a new contract. Confidence which now appears misplaced. The report adds that Juventus tried and failed to sign Mingueza in January, though ‘his destination appears to be the Premier League now’.

AS do not mention West Ham – instead throwing in another claret and blue club in Aston Villa – but Mingueza has been on their radar for a long time now.

How far can Malick Diouf go? And what does he need to do to become a world-class left-back?
Hammers News can confirm that, before West Ham signed El Hadji Malick Diouf from Slavia Prague, Mingueza had been identified as their first-choice target for the right-back spot last summer, albeit under the now-departed Kyle Macaulay.
Kyle Walker-Peters would join on a free transfer instead.
It is very well-documented, meanwhile, that Mingueza has a £17 million release clause in his contract. He will have his pick of the clubs, then. West Ham are unlikely to be the strongest candidate – especially in competition with the likes of Juventus and Aston Villa – but do not be surprised if the Hammers feature heavily in discussions.
Versatile, two-footed and highly technical – he is a La Masia graduate after all – Mingueza is the ultimate ‘Swiss Army Knife’ defender. He’s a fine free-kick taker, too.
