The fact that West Ham United have dropped into the Championship might not be enough to keep young forward Daniel Cummings at the club next season.
Cummings is a highly-rated young striker at West Ham United, one who scored six goals in 22 youth appearances last season.
What are your immediate thoughts as Paco Jemez leaves West Ham? 👀
I'm gutted!
With Callum Wilson leaving, Taty Castellanos linked with a move away and Pablo Felipe unreliable in front of goal, there would appear to be a chance for a player like Cummings to stake his case for a first-team berth for the season ahead.
Still, it seems West Ham United have another option in mind.
Cummings set to seek loan move away from West Ham
According to Standard Sport, the former Celtic youngster is currently expected to seek a loan move away from east London.
They offer no further update, but it does seem as if the plan – at least for now – is for him to gain some valuable experience out on loan.
Who will be the next breakout star from our academy?
Ezra Mayers and Lewis Orford are developing very nicely… 🌟
Fans will no doubt be desperate to see the club hand youngsters a chance. That is a key part of rebuilding.

Yet, going on loan might help Cummings in the long run. It is imperative that West Ham get promoted next season and that does not lend itself to blooding young talents in such a key position.
A brief spell away where the pressure is not so heavy and the stakes not so high might be more beneficial for a young player still trying to make their way in the game.
Cummings has impressed in the West Ham academy ranks, and the next step in his career is therefore crucial.
There is simply no sense throwing him into a promotion bid upon which so much rests. Rather, it’s much better for him to get used to life in senior football elsewhere.
