West Ham United head coach Julen Lopetegui may well be able to solve his central defensive problems imminently.
Julen Lopetegui enjoyed a fantastic summer transfer window at West Ham, but he did leave himself one centre-back short after Nayef Aguerd left to join Real Sociedad on deadline day without being replaced.
Lopetegui dropped a clear hint on Thursday that his transfer business is done, in spite of rumours linking us with numerous free agents.
However, his stance on the matter may well change now.
That’s because one of his summer transfer targets is incredibly now available on a free transfer.
And Lopetegui cannot afford to let this opportunity pass him by…
West Ham target has contract terminated
Links with Joel Matip and John Egan have come and gone over the past couple of weeks.
And as things stand, it seems like Kaelan Casey will be the Hammers’ fourth-choice centre-back this season.

However, that could all be about to change.
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Oumar Solet has had his contract terminated by RB Salzburg.
That’s huge news for West Ham. Solet is absolutely perfect for us, and the physical nature of Premier League football in general.
Now Lopetegui cannot stand around and wait, he absolutely has to bring the 24-year-old to the London Stadium on a free transfer.
Signing Oumar Solet a no-brainer for West Ham
West Ham have been linked with a move to sign the 6ft 4in centre-back since June, and now could be the perfect time for us to make our move.
The 24-year-old is a superb central defender, and he’d provide perfect cover and competition for Max Kilman and Jean-Clair Todibo in the heart of the Hammers’ back-line.
Solet is incredibly dominant in the air, possesses impressive pace along the ground and is a very good man marker.
Crucially, the Frenchman has an incredible physique, and is perfectly built for Premier League football, what with its robust and intense nature.
He possesses exceptional positional awareness as well, and reads the game with aplomb.
RB Salzburg were said to be demanding around £10 million for the defender in summer (Yahoo), and that would have been great value in this day and age.
He’s now available on a free transfer though, and the Hammers cannot afford to miss this opportunity to sign him.
If West Ham manage to bring the Frenchman to the London Stadium for absolutely nothingm it will be a very good deal for the club.
