West Ham fans want Diafra Sakho re-signed on a free

Some West Ham fans have taken to Twitter suggesting that their side should bring Diafra Sakho back to east London on a free transfer.

The Hammers are incredibly light in the attacking department. Sebastien Haller has struggled since his £45 million summer move from Eintracht Frankfurt. Albian Ajeti, meanwhile, doesn’t seem to be good enough for the Premier League. Although it’s fair to argue that the Swiss hitman hasn’t been given enough of a chance.

And it could be suggested that Sakho would be a decent short-term solution to West Ham’s attacking problems.

The 30-year-old scored 24 goals in 71 games for the Hammers during a three-and-a-half year spell in east London (Transfermarkt). He always worked his socks off for West Ham, but his reputation was sullied when he constantly angled for a move away fro the club and was subsequently moved on in January 2018, joining Rennes for around £9 million (The Daily Mail).

The 13-capped Senegal international is now available on a free transfer, having been released by the Ligue 1 outfit in December.

So should West Ham consider bringing Sakho back to the London Stadium?

Some Hammers fans certainly think it would be worth a punt…
