West Ham reportedly want to sign Genk strikerย Mbwana Samatta (BBC Sport), and some Hammers fans took to Twitter in reaction to the speculation.

Manuel Pellegriniโ€™s side appear to be incredibly light up front. A lot of pressure is on Sebastien Hallerโ€™s shoulders to produce week in, week out.

And itโ€™s just not happening for the Frenchman at the moment. The problem for West Ham is that Pellegrini clearly doesnโ€™t fancy Albian Ajeti. So the Chilean is highly unlikely to bring the Swiss into the fold anytime soon.

And with this in mind, the addition of someone with Samattaโ€™s pace and quality would be a much-needed one for the Hammers.

The 26-year-old has scored eight goals in 18 appearances for Genk this season, and his direct playing style combined with blistering pace would provide West Ham with a totally different option through the middle.

The BBC claimsย that Samatta, a 51-capped Tanzania international, could be available for just ยฃ10 million in January. And in todayโ€™s day and age, that would represent excellent value for money.
