West Ham fans react to Willian Jose links

According to a report from AS, West Ham have entered the race to sign Real Sociedad striker Willian Jose, and some Hammers fans took to Twitter in reaction to the speculation.

The 28-year-old hitman has scored eight goals in 20 La Liga outings for Sociedad this season (Transfermarkt).

And according to the Guardian, he could be available for £21 million before tomorrow’s transfer deadline.

But would that be good value for West Ham?

The Hammers desperately need another striker, with Sebastien Haller failing to fire.

And Willian Jose would be a decent addition. But nothing more than that.

The Brazilian has a decent goalscoring record during his time with Sociedad, with 53 goals in 130 games to his name (Transfermarkt).

He stands at just under 6ft 3in tall (Wikipedia), so he clearly has the frame needed to cope with the intense, robust nature of the Premier League.

Jose does lack pace, however, and is more comfortable when playing with his back to goal (Daily Mail).

It could be argued that speed is an attribute that West Ham should be prioritising when looking for a new striker. The addition of a forward who plays off the shoulder of the last defender would be ideal.

And the Sociedad hitman certainly isn’t that type of forward.
