West Ham could swoop for Yann M’Vila this summer, according to reports from France. French media outlet L’Equipe (via Get French Football News) reports that West Ham have made a ‘concrete’ approach for the defensive midfielder.
M’Vila has prior experience in England, having spent a season on loan at Sunderland under Sam Allardyce.
The 22-cap France international enjoyed a successful season at The Stadium of Light – keeping them up – but the board would not sanction a permanent deal.
M’Vila’s career, which started with Rennes, has also taken him to Russia (with Rubin Kazan) but now he is back in France.
The 28-year-old signed a four-year deal with Saint-Etienne last summer and he has been a mainstay in their midfield.

ASSE sit fourth in the Ligue 1 table with M’Vila proving a reliable and experienced option in the middle of the park.
But would he improve West Ham? That is what some Hammers fans have been debating on Twitter after these rumours started circulating.
M’Vila would be competing with Declan Rice, Mark Noble, Pedro Obiang and possibly Carlos Sanchez and Josh Cullen next season if he moved to West Ham.
Here are some tweets from West Ham fans on whether M’Vila would be a good signing.
