Football.London reported on Friday that West Ham are exploring a deal to sign Slavia Prague defensive midfielder Tomas Soucek, and some Hammers fans took to Twitter in reaction to the speculation.

Declan Rice and Mark Noble have done a decent job this season, but David Moyes has little to choose from in reserve.

Carlos Sanchez’s display against West Brom yesterday proved that he should be nowhere near the West Ham squad, let along the starting XI.

And Soucek would undoubtedly solve that issue.

The 6ft 4in Czech Republic international is an absolute warrior.

The 24-year-old recorded very impressive statistics in the Champions League for Slavia Prague this season. According to Who Scored, he won an average of four aerial duals per game, with a pass completion rate of 82.6%.

Soucek also averaged 2.5 tackles, 2.5 interceptions, 2.8 clearances and 0.5 blocks per game in six Champions League outings.

The Czech ace is also a threat in the final third, with 12 goals to his name in 26 outings for Slavia Prague this season.

And many West Ham fans were excited by links with the giant midfielder…
