According to a report from French media outlet RMC Sport, West Ham have made a ‘good’ offer for Roma ace Steven Nzonzi, and some Hammers fans have taken to Twitter in reaction to the speculation.
Turkish media outlet Gunes have gone one step further, suggesting that the 31-year-old has ‘decided’ to join the Hammers.
West Ham desperately need more physicality in the middle of the park, and Nzonzi would give them just that.
The French World Cup winner is not the player he once was, however, and bringing him to the London Stadium would see the Hammers repeat their recent trend of signing players over 30 who are past their best.
At the end of the day, however, Nzonzi would be better than nobody at all.
The 31-year-old is currently on loan with Galatasaray. So he has obviously not impressed not impressed at Roma.
The bottom line is that West Ham need more physicality in midfield. And the truth is that Nzonzi might just be the best that the east London outfit can do this month.
Some Hammers fans took to Twitter in reaction to the report claiming that an offer has been made for the Frenchman…
Brady said we have made mistakes but what is important is we learn from them. How is continually getting old loan players who have no affinity with the club learning ffs. Give up.

Another washed up old player… how exciting

He didn’t exactly set the Premier league on fire last time he was here, poor choice

Its about right, short term fix with minimal outlay.
That is our level….

Piss off ffs, imagine targeting Kessie, Nandez etc and ending up with Nzonzi
— James Gunn (@jamesgunn_) January 22, 2020
Apparently he’s not pulling up trees in the Turkish League.

Oh yeah fantastic player on his day, but it just seems that we always end up with them when they’re over 30.

Is he the older guy with a bad attitude from Galatasaray? Kessie for me

Nzonzi simply isn’t quick enough to help us in CM. He’s big he’s physical and he can tackle but we need legs energy and someone with a great pass. Nzonzi is not the answer. We need players but he’s not right.

No chance, our midfield is already the slowest in the league.

Yeah we dont need him
