Football Insider claimed yesterday that West Ham could try to sell Andriy Yarmolenko in the summer, and some Hammers fans have taken to Twitter in reaction to the speculation.

The 30-year-old joined the east London outfit from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2018 for around £17.5 million, according to the Evening Standard.

Yarmolenko has played just 25 games for West Ham and has racked up only five goals and two assists in the process (Transfermarkt).

The 83-capped Ukraine international seems to be totally unsuited to the Premier League. He is slow along the ground, laboured in possession, and doesn’t seem to have the physical capabilities needed to succeed in England.

Football Insider claimed yesterday that the Hammers are prepared to cut their losses on Yarmolenko.

If West Ham can get even half of the £17.5 million that they paid for the 30-year-old, they absolutely must move him on.

In 15 Premier League games this season, Yarmolenko has scored only three goals and racked up just one assist. He has averaged just 1.3 shots, one key pass and 0.4 dribbles per game (Who Scored).

The Ukrainian has also experienced consistent injury problems.

And some Hammers fans took to Twitter in reaction to the speculation that he could be sold in the summer…

Those comments are fairly damning and Yarmolenko’s time in east London does seem to be drawing to a close.

Much will depend on whether he returns from injury before the end of the season and impresses.

As things stand, however, the outlooks seems to be very bleak for the Ukrainian.

West Ham are in desperate need of a boost and perhaps a fully fit Yarmolenko could be just what they need. Hammers fans won’t be holding out any hope, however.
