Manchester United centre-back Phil Jones is a target for West Ham this summer, according to a report from the Mirror, and some Hammers fans have taken to Twitter in reaction to the speculation.
The 28-year-old has been at United for nine years. The centre-back won the Premier League title with the Red Devils in 2013. But he has struggled with form and injuries over the past few seasons.
The east London outfit could do with a player like Jones at the club, however.
They need to bolster their central defensive ranks in the summer. Angelo Ogbonna has been an absolute rock for West Ham this season, but he will be 32 in May. And Winston Reid and Issa Diop face uncertain futures at the London Stadium.
The Manchester United defender – a 27-capped England international, has made over 200 Premier League appearances and is vastly experienced.
At the absolute worst he would be a solid squad addition for West Ham, especially for the potential £12 million fee that is being reported.
He has had his fare share of injury problems, however. So that will undoubtedly be a concern for the Hammers.
