West Ham were linked with a move for Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius yesterday, and some Hammers fans took to Twitter in reaction to the speculation.
Turkish publication Fanatik claimed yesterday that West Ham could make an offer for the Liverpool stopper when the transfer window opens.
In truth, however, the report surely has little substance.
The Hammers are well stocked in the goalkeeping department for the next couple of years at least with Lukasz Fabianski, Darren Randolph and youngster Nathan Trott.
And signing Karius from the Reds really would be a crazy move from West Ham.
The 26-year-old Liverpool stopper has kept 68 clean sheets in 266 combined appearances for the Reds, Mainz and Besiktas (Transfermarkt).
In 29 Premier League appearances for Liverpool, Karius has made 51 saves, 14 high claims and seven catches. He kept seven clean sheets in those outings. The German also made two errors leading to goals for the opposition (premierleague.com).
Some of the errors that he has committed have been really high profile too – none more so than his howler for Liverpool in the 2018 Champions League final against Real Madrid.
According to the Liverpool Echo, the Reds value the 26-year-old German at around £7.25 million.
Surely West Ham should avoid a move for Karius, however.
Here’s how some Hammers fans reacted to the links on Twitter…
