According to an exclusive report from TEAMtalk, West Ham are interested in signing Liverpool centre-back Dejan Lovren, and some Hammers fans took to Twitter in reaction to the speculation.
David Moyes will surely be keen to bolster his central defensive ranks in the summer, with Winston Reid and Issa Diop facing uncertain futures at the London Stadium.
Also, Angelo Ogbonna is set to turn 32 in May.
And TEAMtalk claims that West Ham could move to address that issue by moving for Liverpool’s Lovren.
So would the Croatian be a good signing for the Hammers?
In 161 Premier League appearances for Liverpool and Southampton, the 57-capped Croatia international has racked up 243 tackles, with an incredibly impressive success rate of 71% (premierleague.com).
He has also recorded 273 interceptions, 1,009 clearances and 713 ball recoveries. Lovren has won 920 out his 1,426 individual duals and 582 of his 871 aerial battles (premierleague.com).
Lovren is vastly experienced and is a no-nonsense defender. He won the Champions League with Liverpool last year. And If given regular game-time, he might just be a useful addition for West Ham.
The 53-capped Croatia international could be available for just £13.5 million, according to Italian media outlet Tutto Mercato Web.
