ExWHUemployee provided a transfer update and claimed that West Ham boss David Moyes is keen to sign Bordeaux forward Josh Maja this month, when speaking on the West Ham Way Podcast last night (Wednesday January 20th).
Some Hammers fans have taken to Twitter in reaction to the speculation.
talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook backed up Ex’s claim, suggesting that Maja is a target for David Moyes this month (Thursday, 11:50am).
Whatever happens, David Moyes absolutely must sign a new striker this month.
Sebastien Haller left for Ajax more than two weeks ago and in typical West Ham style, at least 20 strikers have been linked with moves to the London Stadium already.
Josh Maja is one of those names. But surely we can do better.
Maja, 22, was managed by David Moyes during the Scot’s time in charge at Sunderland.
The Lewisham born striker left the Black Cats to join Bordeaux two years ago and has racked up 11 goals in 48 games for the Ligue 1 outfit (Transfermarkt).
Maja is far from prolific and just doesn’t seem to be the man to take the Hammers to the next level. The Sun suggests that Josh Maja could be available for around £10 million.
And that just seems to be way too much money for the 22-year-old.
