According to a report from Spanish media outlet El Periodico Mediterraneo, West Ham have been offered the chance to sign Villarreal striker Karl Toko Ekambi for £21.4 million this month, and some Hammers fans took to Twitter in reaction to the speculation.
The east London outfit desperately need reinforcements in the attacking department. Sebastien Haller is not firing at all, and has scored just six goals this season.
And Ekambi could be a decent option for them.
The 27-year-old is far from prolific, with just six goals to his name this term, but he has plenty of pace, and can play anywhere along the front line.
West Ham have a real problem when Michail Antonio doesn’t play. The 29-year-old is the only player who brings any kind of pace and power to the Hammers’ attacking play.
So that is certainly an issue that needs addressing.
And Ekambi would immediately solve that particular problem.
But is he worth £21.4 million? That’s a lot of money to pay for someone who is already 27, and has absolutely no Premier League experience.
Newcastle are also reportedly in the race to sign the Cameroon international.
And Some West Ham fans took to Twitter, reacting very dubiously to suggestions that Ekambi could be moving to the London Stadium…

Is he available on an 18-month loan w/ option to buy with payment staggered over 99 years?
If not, then it’s fake news
