West Ham have beaten a few clubs to the signing of Ajeti on deadline day. He will join Haller and Javier Hernandez to bulk out West Ham’s striker department.

Ajeti told whufc.com: “It is a pleasure for me to be here, at this big club. Once I felt West Ham’s interest, I didn’t have to think twice about signing for such a big, traditional club in the Premier League. This is a big day for me and my family.”

The 22-year-old has a prolific record at Basel, scoring 42 goals in the past three seasons with the Swiss club. He has already netted twice in three games this season, including a Champions League goal against PSV.

West Ham fans took to Twitter to discuss the Switzerland international’s arrival. Here are some of the best tweets.
