Some West Ham fans have taken to Twitter, pleading with David Moyes and the board to sign Diego Costa on a free transfer.
The Hammers have real problems in the centre-forward department.
Michail Antonio is a huge doubt for Monday’s clash with Sheffield United after seemingly pulling up against Fulham with a tight hamstring whilst Andriy Yarmolenko was forced off against Manchester United on Tuesday night with damaged knees ligaments.
Meanwhile, Mipo Odubeko looks a long way off being ready for regular Premier League action.
West Ham failing to sign a striker in January seemed like an extremely risky decision at the time. And now it is confirmed that it was an absolutely crazy one.
Hammers boss David Moyes can still rectify that mistake, however.
West Ham can sign a free agent striker at any time.
And Diego Costa would be an ideal option for the East London outfit.
Moyes was interested in signing the 32-year-old hitman in January (Il Messaggero).
The 32-year-old has a fine record during his time in the game. He has scored 191 goals in 498 games games for club and country (Transfermarkt). The striker has also won two Premier League titles and has a La Liga winner’s medal to his name.
On his day, he was a truly top class centre-forward. Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone was a huge fan of the Spain international, as quoted by Sports Mole:
“He’s a guy who keeps growing day by day, he has an enormous physical strength. He infects his teammates with this thing he has and they exploit it in the best possible way,”
Signing the former Chelsea ace seems like somewhat of a no-brainer for the Hammers.
