Some West Ham fans have taken to Twitter in reaction to the rumour linking Aston Villa defender Kortney Hause with a January move to the London Stadium.

Football Insider claimed yesterday that the Hammers have opened preliminary talks with Aston Villa to sign the defender this month.

Hammers boss David Moyes is well known to be chasing the addition of a top-class central defender in the January transfer window.

Angelo Ogbonna is out for the entire season and despite the fact that Kurt Zouma is closing in on a return to action, West Ham are still fairly light in central defence.

The Hammers are flying high in fourth place in the Premier League table at the moment. A win against Leeds this afternoon would take us to within three points of second placed Chelsea – quite incredible really!

In order to maintain our fine start to the season though, Moyes absolutely needs to strengthen this month. The Scot should be looking to bring a quality striker and an established centre-back to the London Stadium before the January window slams shut.

The Hammers have already been linked with a whole host of names this month.

The most recent of those being Aston Villa’s Kortney Hause.

The 26-year-old began his career in the West Ham academy and he grew up in Goodmayes, so he will know all about the East London outfit.

He’s a decent Premier League defender, but does he have the potential to become a top-class player? The jury is still very much out on that.

West Ham fans react to links with Kortney Hause

It is debatable as to whether the 26-year-old Villa centre-back possesses the kind of quality needed at the London Stadium.

Villans boss Steven Gerrard might not even be prepared to let Hause leave Villa Park this month now though, after Ezri Konsa suffered a serious looking hip injury last night.

So it could well end up being a moot point anyway.

Nevertheless, some West Ham fans have taken to Twitter in reaction to the links with Aston Villa centre-back Kortney Hause…
