Some Hammers fans are not happy that The General could be on his way out of the London Stadium, however.
The 29-year-old joined the Hammers from Corinthians in the summer of 2018, for a fee believed to be worth £3.5 million (Evening Standard).

Balbuena instantly endeared himself to the West Ham faithful with his tough, no-nonsense playing style.
His form suffered during the 2019/20 campaign, however. He was given a limited summer break due to an extensive off-season schedule with Paraguay.
The former Corinthians ace returned to form at the start of this season, however. His calm and reassured performances at the heart of the Hammers’ defence was a key factor behind our fantastic start to the season.

Unfortunately for Balbuena, however, Craig Dawson took his place in the team just before the turn of the year. And the 30-year-old centre-back has been absolutely brilliant ever since.
It could actually be argued that The Genral is now the fifth choice centre-back at the London Stadium behind Dawson, Angelo Ogbonna, Aaron Cresswell and Issa Diop.
