The 24-year-old joined the Ligue 1 outfit from Celtic in the summer of 2018 for around £19.7 million (BBC).
Dembele has gone on to score 44 goals in 102 appearances for Lyon. He racked up 51 goals in 94 games for Celtic before moving to France (Transfermarkt).
The Frenchman is a top class striker. The 24-year-old has proved everywhere that he has been that he is capable of scoring goals consistently.
Dembele would undoubtedly be a very good addition for West Ham. There is one big problem, however.
The Sun claims that it will cost the Hammers around £30 million if they want to prise him away from Lyon.
In the modern game, that would actually represent good business for West Ham. But considering the fact that we barely managed to bring Said Benrahma to the London Stadium in the summer, we will surely struggle to meet Dembele’s reported valuation.
If we are being honest, it seems highly unlikely that we will sign the Lyon ace. Certainly while Sebastien Haller is still at the club anyway.
