Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge is one of several strikers being discussed by West Ham ahead of the summer transfer window, according to The Daily Mail.
West Ham are expected to sign at least one new striker in the summer transfer window. And this report names a few on the wishlist.
Celta Vigo striker Maxi Gomez, Fulham’s Aleksandar Mitrovic, Red Bull Leipzig forward Jean-Kevin Augustin and Roma veteran Edin Dzeko are other options.
But the Hammers could be tempted to swoop for Sturridge, who is due to become a free agent in the summer transfer window.
Who is Daniel Sturridge?
Sturridge has fallen out of favour at Liverpool this season and a new contract at Anfield seems unlikely. Jurgen Klopp favours other forwards ahead of the former Chelsea and Manchester City attacker.
The 29-year-old has a reasonable goalscoring record in the Premier League with 76 goals in 216 top-flight matches.
But injuries have held the left-footed striker back and his time at Liverpool appears to be coming to an end now.
The 26-cap England international will still be hoping to stay in the Premier League and get back into Gareth Southgate’s squad.
West Ham could offer him the chance to move to East London, although his injury record will worry some fans, considering that this is already a problem at the club.
If Sturridge can stay fit, he could be a shrewd acquisition on a free transfer but he is likely to demand high wages and his injury record makes him a risk.
