Reece Oxford is on the verge of leaving West Ham on loan before tonight’s 11pm deadline.
According to Sky Sports News, FC Augsburg are set to complete the signing of Oxford on loan until the end of the season.
Reece Oxford at West Ham
Oxford burst onto the scene at West Ham, making his debut under Slaven Bilic as a 16-year-old against Arsenal at The Emirates.
He turned in a man of the match performance that day but has only made a total of 17 appearances since then.
This season, the 20-year-old has been frozen out by Manuel Pellegrini despite West Ham’s struggles at the back.
The Hammers are without Winston Reid and Fabian Balbuena at the moment and Angelo Ogbonna’s form has been erratic.
But Pellegrini has still not included Oxford – who plays at centre-back or in central midfield – in a match day squad this season.
Instead, the youngster has had to settle for game time in the under-23 squad and he is now set for another loan move away from East London.
Loan spells away
This will be Oxford’s third loan move away from West Ham, having spent time with Reading and Borussia Monchengladbach in the past.
The England under-20 starlet is now set to return to the Bundesliga, where he will team up with Augsburg.
Augsburg are 15th in the league and want Oxford to boost their chances of staying up this season. But whether the 6ft 3in defender has a future at West Ham beyond this season remains to be seen.
