West Ham United will be on the hunt for value in the next window and could take advantage of what is being dubbed the Real Madrid ‘massacre’.
West Ham have been linked with moves for Real outcasts Luka Jovic and Lucas Vazquez.
According to The Daily Star and former West Ham midfielder Don Hutchison, the Hammers were keen to reunite the deadly strike partnership of Jovic and Sebastien Haller.
Jovic’s £53million move to Madrid has been a disaster culminating in the club losing patience with the forward after he broke strict lockdown rules (The Mirror).
The Hammers are looking for a new playmaker with the futures of the likes of Manuel Lanzini, Andriy Yarmolenko, Jack Wilshere and Felipe Anderson up in the air (Claret & Hugh).
According to a report from Spanish media outlet El Desmarque, West Ham have also been monitoring Vazquez and wanted him in January.
In Spain it is being reported this week that Real Madrid are planning a squad ‘massacre’ as the La Liga giants prepare to ship out 11 players in the next window (Sport).
Two West Ham targets to be shipped out in Real Madrid ‘massacre’
Those include West Ham targets Jovic and Vazquez.
According to outlet Sport – as translated by Football Espana – Real will not be sticklers over prices, stating: “All will be sold the moment a buyer is found.”
Zinedine Zidane wants to completely rebuild. And Real are trying to find takers for Gareth Bale, James Rodriguez, Mariano Diaz, Brahim Diaz, Alvaro Odriozola, Militao Areola, Luka Modric, Marcelo and the duo of West Ham targets Vazquez and Jovic.
“If someone wants to pick up their contracts, Madrid aren’t going to demand much of a fee,” Sport reports.
That will be music to West Ham’s ears given reports this week that the club – like many others – will be stretched financially as a result of the global health crisis.
Potential bargain buys or loans music to West Ham’s ears
Claret & Hugh recently claimed West Ham are focused on making their priority signing this summer – a striker to partner Haller.
So David Moyes will be pleased to learn he could get Jovic on the cheap.
Vazquez is likely to command an even lower fee and the deals could be paid for by money generated from sales.
If money is an issue it could be that West Ham will be able to strike loan deals with options with Real eager just to clear the decks as much as possible.
