West Ham United are apparently plotting another move to sign a midfielder before transfer deadline day.
Deadline day is fast approaching, and the only signing West Ham have made so far is Kalvin Phillips on loan from Manchester City.
The January transfer window has been a decent one so far for Hammers boss David Moyes, but he still needs to make at least one more signing in order to make it a very good one.
I would like to see Moyes sign a top-class forward, and some more quality defensive cover wouldn’t go a miss either.
However, it seems like the West Ham boss is eyeing up the addition of yet another central midfielder.
According to a report from Bild, the Hammers are battling it out with Stuttgart and Aston Villa for the signing of Borussia Monchengladbach ace Florian Neuhaus…
West Ham could sign 26-year-old before deadline day
Bild are claiming that the Hammers are plotting a late move for the 26-year-old before the January transfer window slams shut.
I mean, he’s a very good footballer, but I’m just not sure we need him right now if I’m being honest.
Described as a ‘simply outstanding’ player by his former Borussia Monchengladbach teammate Marcus Thuram (Get Football News Germany), Neuhaus has absolutely everything.
The Germany international is a top-class footballer, but I must say that I don’t really see the value in signing him in addition to Phillips.
He is an orthodox central midfielder, but can also operate in the defensive midfield position or even the number 10 role if need be.
In my view, Neuhaus would be a great signing for us in the summer, if we don’t make Phillips’ move to the London Stadium a permanent one.
Right now though, I’d be chasing other signings before deadline day, if I were the West Ham United manager.
