The Hammers made a £23 million bid for the Fiorentina centre-back during the summer transfer window according to a report from Gianluca Di Marzio.
Calcio Mercato suggested that the Serie A outfit were demanding closer to £35 million, however.

Calcio Mercato have now claimed that Milenkovic will not be signing a new deal with Fiorentina. And with the 23-year-old’s contract set to expire in the summer of 2022, perhaps West Ham might be able to pick him up on the cheap.
The Italians may well be wishing that they had sold him for £23 million when they had the chance.
The Serbia international would be a truly exceptional signing for the Hammers. And David Moyes should be doing everything within his power to bring him to the London Stadium in January.

Stats
The 22-year-old played 37 Serie A games for Fiorentina last season, scoring five goals in the process. During those outings, the Serbian averaged 1.2 tackles, 0.8 interceptions, 3.3 clearances and 0.5 blocks per game. He also won an average of 2.3 aerial duals per match during that period of games (Who Scored).
Milenkovic is an absolutely superb player. And he would improve West Ham’s defence immeasurably.
If Moyes can pick the 23-year-old up for a bargain fee in January, it will be an absolute no brainer for the Scot. Come on Sully, make it happen!
