According to reports West Ham United bid £55million for Torino striker Andrea Belotti in the summer.

The Hammers were looking to add firepower to their attack in the summer after shipping out all five of last season’s strikers.

The 25-year old burst on to the Serie A scene with 26 league goals in the 2016-17 season.

And he already has 13 goals in 20 game in all competitions this season.

According to Tuttosport and Calcio Mercato, West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini sanctioned a £55million move for Belotti in the summer.

West Ham had summer Belotti bid knocked back

But that bid was knocked back with Torino demanding £63million.

And West Ham instead spent £45million on Sebastien Haller.

Now according to Calcio Mercato and Football Espana, Belotti could be purchased for over £30million LESS than they were quoted by Torino six months ago.

The report says Atletico Madrid are showing an interest in the Hammers target and that his Italian club could accept a bid of £30million.

West Ham fans were concerned the club had left themselves short in the summer with a paltry £25m net spend.

And those fears played out as West Ham tumbled down the table from third to the brink of a relegation battle after a promising start.

Some West Ham fans pleaded with the club to sign Belotti.

Torino now willing to accept £30m less for Hammers target?

Pellegrini could certainly do with him now. West Ham have been single-handedly kept out of the relegation zone by Michail Antonio in recent weeks.

His performances were huge in victories at Chelsea and Southampton.

But Antonio is injury-prone and beyond him and Haller West Ham have no other proven forwards.

If Belotti is truly available for £30million it is an opportunity West Ham cannot afford to pass up.

The Hammers trimmed £700,000 off their weekly wage bill in the summer.

Money should not be an issue for chance too good to miss

So there is plenty of room for another top earner or three on the books.

Having only spent £25million in the last two windows there should be plenty of money available for transfers.

West Ham;s owners made grand promises when West Ham moved to the London Stadium.

And they would also have promised Pellegrini big money when he was lured back to the Premier League from China.

A front two of Haller and Belotti and suddenly West Ham start to look a different proposition altogether.
