The Express claims that the 24-year-old centre-back could be an option for Reds boss Jurgen Klopp.
The German has a real injury crisis on his hands at Anfield. Virgil van Dijk is out with a long-term injury whilst Joe Gomez is also out.
So it would be no surprise if Liverpool did attempt to sign Caleta-Car in January. And if that does turn out to be the case, it could just be mission impossible for West Ham.

L’Equipe reported a few days before the summer transfer deadline that the Hammers had made numerous bids for the eight-capped Croatian international.
The Sun also claimed that West Ham made a £25 million offer for Caleta-Car two days before the transfer window closed.

Stats
In 23 Ligue 1 appearances for Marseille last season, the 24-year-old scored one goal and registered one assist. In those outings, the Croatian averaged 1.3 tackles, 1.2 interceptions and 4.1 clearances per game. He also won an average of 2.4 aerial duals per match (Who Scored).
Well-renowned football analysis and scouting website IBWM recently described Caleta-Car as an ‘exceptional talent’.
West Ham shouldn’t completely give up hope of signing the Croatian. If Liverpool swoop in for the 24-year-old, however, our race may very well be run.
