West Ham United will be looking to cash in on some of their fringe players in the January transfer window.

While Nuno Espirito Santo wants to strengthen his first team, he knows that in order to sign players, funds need to be raised by shipping off fringe players.

West Ham United are currently in 17th place and are still very much in the thick of it with regards to a relegation battle.

Andy Irving could be sold for seven-figure fee in January

According to Claret and Hugh, a January exit for Andy Irving is looking likely as he’s not part of Nuno’s plans.

The hierarchy are keen on shaping the squad the way the Portuguese wants it, so a sale is expected to be sanctioned.

Wrexham, Rangers and Celtic were all keen on the Scotland international in the summer, but he stayed put at the London Stadium.

However, given the lack of game time, links to Kobbie Mainoo and other midfielders, and his contract situation, a January departure does make sense.

West Ham rejected £1.9million plus extras from Celtic in the summer, but will be inclined to accept an offer in the coming weeks.

It has been claimed that Wrexham could come back in with another offer and given the Hammers’ valuation, his exit could fetch them seven figures in January.

Will West Ham sign Mainoo on loan?

Mainoo had a stellar start to life as a senior Manchester United player but has since become a fringe player under Ruben Amorim.

He would want to play regularly to show Thomas Tuchel he deserves to be included in the World Cup squad and that is not going to happen if he remains at Old Trafford.

Signing him on loan would benefit West Ham United as they will be bringing in a player who strengthens their strongest eleven without paying a transfer fee.

It will also be a good move for him as he will play week in and week out and show Amorim what he’s missing out on.

There is a good possibility that if the Manchester United manager sanctions it, the Hammers will most likely make a loan move for him.
