West Ham United can bring Inter Milan striker Alex Sanchez back to the Premier League for just £3 million in the summer transfer window.

That’s according to a report from Calciomercato who claims that the Chile international could leave Inter Milan at the end of this season.

Hammers boss David Moyes is allegedly keen to bring the former Arsenal forward to the London Stadium at the end of this season (La Tercera).

West Ham’s need for a proven goalscorer has been well-documented over the past 14 months after we sold Sebastien Haller to Ajax for around £20 million.

The Hammers still haven’t replaced the Ivory Coast international hitman. David Moyes has tried to do so over the past three transfer windows but he’s been unsuccessful. And the Scot absolutely must make amends for that in the summer.

West Ham could bring striker back to England for bargain fee in the summer window

Calciomercato claims that Alex Sanchez has a £3 million release clause inserted into his contract with Inter.

So he could be available for an absolute bargain this summer.

Should West Ham be trying to sign the 33-year-old Chilean though?

In our view, the Hammers should not be going anywhere near the South American.

At 33, he is undoubtedly on the downward curve of his career and he hasn’t really been in great form since he left Arsenal around four years ago.

Moyes has repeatedly insisted that he wants to sign young and angry players with high ceilings for improvement.

Sanchez certainly doesn’t fit into that category.

The experienced attacker does have plenty of attributes that Moyes likes, however. He is hard-working and like most South American footballers, he’s typically tenacious. The former Gunner can play anywhere along the front-line as well.

Sanchez has bagged 177 goals in 610 career appearances (Transfermarkt). He has 146 international caps for Chile to his name as well. So there is undoubtedly something special about him.

We just don’t think that he’s the right striker for us.

There are plenty of more exciting options out there. West Ham need to make a very big statement in the summer transfer window. Moyes absolutely must sign an elite centre-forward and whoever that man is preferably should have youth own his side.

We think that West Ham should pass on Sanchez, in spite of his availability for just £3 million this summer.
