Manuel Pellegrini has praised West Ham’s Board for pulling off the Pablo Fornals transfer, the club’s official website reports. David Sullivan and David Gold are often criticised by West Ham fans but Pellegrini has reserved credit for the duo.

Mario Husillos is now West Ham’s transfer guru but the Board were compliant in getting the deal over the line. Pellegrini is grateful because he now has his top midfield target.

Pellegrini told whufc.com: “He was a key target we identified some time ago and it is a big positive that we have managed to complete the deal early in the transfer window. I would like to thank the Board for their support and work in completing the transfer.”

For the second summer running, West Ham have made a marquee summer signing. Last summer, the Hammers spent over £100m, including the capture of Felipe Anderson. And the Fornals addition has Pellegrini equally excited.

“Pablo is a young, hungry and talented player who has already proven his ability at the highest level in Spain, and we believe he will bring a different dimension and a strong mentality to the team. He has made a big impact in his time with Villarreal and we look forward to seeing him continue his progress here.”

West Ham fans will hope the Spain U21 international, who has two senior caps, can work his magic at West Ham. The Hammers could be in for an exciting season.
