West Ham United boss Manuel Pellegrini has a cunning plan to spend as much as £70million on new signings this summer.

West Ham have reportedly handed Pellegrini a £30million base summer transfer budget.

But co-owners David Sullivan have pledged to the Chilean and director of football Mario Husillos that any money from player sales will be added to the pot.

Transfer kitty hits £40million and counting

That means the West Ham warchest already stands at over £40million following the sales of Lucas Perez and Edimilson Fernandes for a combined £10.5million this week.

Pellegrini does not intend on giving the owners an easy ride by being frugal, though.

Quite the opposite. The West Ham boss will test how true Sullivan and Gold are to their word after signalling his intent to take what he can for a host of first team players.

‘All being well the pot hits £70-75million’

According to a new report from fellow Hammers site Claret & Hugh Pellegrini has put realistic prices on the heads of players he deems surplus to requirements.

“All being well that will include (Javier Hernandez) Chicharito (£10 million), Jordan Hugill (£4 million) Pedro Obiang (£8 million) Sam Byram (£4 million), Reece Oxford (£3 million) and Carlos Sanchez (£3 million),” Claret & Hugh claimed this week.

“Pelle(grini) will be hoping too that the co-chairman will be ready to hand him another £10-£15 million taking his kitty for the summer to around £70million-£75 million.”

Two months to go until window shuts

Time will tell.

But West Ham have two months to get the rest of their business done.

So far the Hammers have resolved their goalkeeping situation.

Adrian has departed and been replaced by fellow Spaniard Roberto.

Meanwhile David Martin has come in as third choice to fill the void left by highly-rated youngster Nathan Trott’s imminent loan move.
