When speaking to the club’s official website, Manuel Pellegrini suggested that he will discuss further signings with Mario Husillos and David Sullivan over the course of the next few days.
The Hammers have already signed Sebastien Haller, Pablo Fornals. As well as experienced goalkeeping duo David Martin and Roberto.
They have looked incredibly shaky defensively during pre-season, however, leading to calls for Pellegrini to bring in another top-class centre-back.
West Ham have been linked with Aaron Long, Gary Cahill and Guillermo Maripan to name but a few.
As things stand, however, the east London outfit seem to be no nearer bringing any defensive reinforcements into the club.
Pellegrini did seem to hint that his transfer business is far from finished, however, when speaking exclusively to the club’s official website:
“We will see during the week. I think that I have never seen a team which has so many players [linked to it]. Every player that has the option to change club, I think West Ham wants. But most of them are not true! I will analyse with [director of football] Mario Husillos and the owner [David Sullivan] and we will decide this week what we must work on.”
The Chilean obviously didn’t specify any names, but it really would be a big surprise if West Ham failed to add any more players before the deadline at the end of this week.
The Hammers should be aiming for a top six finish. And if they want to achieve that, they surely need one or two more top class signings before the start of the season.
