Felipe Anderson joined West Ham from Lazio in the summer of 2018 for around £42 million (The Guardian).
The Brazilian made a decent start to life in England, racking up 10 goals and five assists in 40 appearances in his debut campaign for the Hammers (Transfermarkt).
The 26-year-old’s form has taken a nose-dive this season, however.
Anderson has chalked up just one goal and five assists in 24 games in all competitions for West Ham since August (Transfermarkt).
The South American has struggled with his form and fitness this season.
So should David Moyes consider selling Anderson in the summer?
That is the dilemma that faces the Scot.
Should he keep faith in the 26-year-old in the hope that he will come good again? Or should he decide to just cut his losses on the pacy winger?
On his day. Anderson is a truly top class player. He possesses devastating pace and has wonderfully tight ball control when running at speed.
The former Lazio man seems totally shot of confidence this season, however. The Brazilian has been reluctant to run at opposing defenders, and has taken the safe option more often than not.
Anderson has averaged just 1.1 key passes per game this season, down from the 1.8 that he averaged last term. He was also fouled 0.4 times more per game on average during the last campaign than this one (Who Scored).
Bleacher report claimed last year that West Ham co-owner David Sullivan has told the Brazilian that he can leave the London Stadium if a top six Premier League club comes in for him.
The problem is that Anderson’s value would have fallen through the floor this season.
So if the Hammers can’t get a decent fee for the 26-year-old in the summer, it might just be worth their while to keep hold of him for another year at least.
