West Ham United could be set to secure what would be an incredible free transfer it seems.
Julen Lopetegui made some terrific signings for West Ham in the summer, and we definitely have a better squad now than when he took over.
However, there are certain holes in his squad that definitely still need filling.
That said, Lopetegui dropped a clear hint earlier today that his transfer business is done, in spite of rumours linking us with numerous free agents.
So with that in mind, the latest report doing the rounds really is quite surprising.
It is being suggested that the Hammers are actually in talks to bring a free agent to the London Stadium, and a move could happen imminently.
West Ham in negotiations to seal stunning free transfer
Despite the Hammers’ incredible summer business, it seems like Lopetegui is not quite finished with his player recruitment just yet.
A name we’ve been heavily linked with recently has just re-emerged as a transfer target for West Ham United.

According to a report from Ruhr 24, West Ham are actually in negotiations to bring Joel Matip to the London Stadium.
West Ham have been linked with a move to sign Joel Matip over the past couple of weeks, but it was then claimed that we’d moved on from the former Liverpool defender.
Central defence is definitely the position where the Hammers are at our weakest when it comes to strength in depth.
However, that could well be about to change.
Should West Ham be looking at Joel Matip?
The 33-year-old has enjoyed a tremendous career in the game, and is a proven winner.
The 6ft 5in defender is still capable of performing at the very highest level of the game, and he has won the Premier League and the Champions League.
He’s incredibly strong in the air and is a superb man marker. I think he’d actually be unreal as our fourth-choice central defensive option.
There is one very big concern indeed about Matip though.
He’s had horrendous injury problems in recent years, and he missed the entire second-half of last season after rupturing his ACL.
I personally think that the fact Joel Matip is available on a free transfer mitigates the risk for West Ham though.
And if Lopetegui brings him to the London Stadium, I’ll be more than happy. I must say though, I can’t see it happening in all honesty.
