West Ham United appear to be closing in on our first signing of the summer transfer window.

According to a report from Sevilla ABC, West Ham are set to sign Luiz Felipe from Real Betis for €20 million (£17 million) in the summer transfer window.

A report emerged last week that the East London outfit wanted to sign the 26-year-old defender.

And it now seems like Hammers boss David Moyes has got his man…

Sevilla ABC reckon that the Hammers and Real Betis have reached an agreement for Luiz Felipe to move to East London from Seville this summer.

I’m more than happy with that, if the news emanating from Spain proves to be spot on.

In 23 La Liga outings for Betis last season, Felipe averaged 1.5 tackles, 1.2 interceptions, 4.3 clearances and 1.3 successful aerial duels per game (Who Scored).

During those appearances, he has made 38.1 passes on average per match and has recorded an impressive completion rate of 85.5% (Who Scored).

Luiz Felipe is strong in the tackle and in the air, and possesses all of the attributes need to succeed with West Ham in the Premier League.

For the small price of just £17 million, West Ham really can’t go wrong by signing Real Betis ace Luiz Felipe as far as I’m concerned.

The Italy international should be perfectly suited to the intense speed and robust nature of the English game, and I think he’ll be a big hit at the London Stadium, if he does indeed join us.

This one really has come out of the blue and it was somewhat of a shock when the news emerged this morning. It’s great to see our summer business finally kick into gear.
