According to reports in Turkey, West Ham have agreed to sign Gary Medel from Besiktas at the end of the season. And now they have turned their attention to another Besiktas player: Dorukhan Tokoz.

As per Duhuliye, Dorukhan is a target for a number of European clubs, including West Ham. It could cost the Hammers €20m to land him.

Dorukhan is a defensive midfielder, who can also play at right-back, and he joined Besiktas from Eskisehirspor in 2018.

The twice-capped Turkey international has played 19 games for Besiktas this season, scoring three goals and providing one assist.

Serie A club Genoa have already been rebuffed in their attempts to sign Dorukhan. Genoa saw an €8m bid rejected (Duhuliye) but are likely to return.

Roma and Valencia are also keen on the 22-year-old, as per Duhuliye. And this means West Ham could get involved in a summer auction with Besiktas unwilling to let him leave on the cheap.

Manuel Pellegrini sees fellow Chilean Medel as the ideal candidate to provide cover in various positions. The 31-year-old operates at centre-back, right-back and as a holding midfielder.

All three positions have proven to be problematic over the past few seasons. And Dorukhan could also help to address this.

The young midfielder is highly rated for his role in central midfield. And with Pedro Obiang’s future in doubt, he could be a like-for-like replacement.

West Ham’s midfield options could include Dorukhan, Medel, Mark Noble and Declan Rice next season.
