West Ham have completed their second signing of the summer transfer window. David Martin joins on a free transfer, West Ham’s official website has confirmed.

Martin is set to become a free agent when his contract with Millwall expires. He has penned a two-year deal at West Ham with an option for a further 12 months.

Martin was in the West Ham academy as a schoolboy. He is the son of former Hammers legend Alvin Martin but he left West Ham to join Wimbledon’s academy in 2003.

The former England U19 had a spell at Liverpool before his move to Milton Keynes Dons in 2010. In seven years with MK, he made nearly 350 appearances.

Upon the expiry of his contract, Martin joined West Ham’s bitter rivals Millwall. In two years, he played 15 times for the Lions before deciding to leave.

Martin is swapping South London for the lure of East London. He is one of the rare few to cross the divide between the two clubs, although current defender Ryan Fredericks previously played for Millwall too.

Here are some tweets from West Ham fans after the club signed yet another goalkeeper and one from Millwall, too.
