One of the more laughable West Ham United transfer rumours of the summer has been put to bed, thanks to Valencia.
West Ham and Valencia’s summer business is very much intertwined.
Both the Hammers and the La Liga outfit are going head-to-head in the battle to sign striker Maxi Gomez.
And Valencia also have a longstanding interest in wantaway West Ham striker Javier Hernandez.

West Ham were linked with Cillessen
Now the Spanish side have helped quash talk that West Ham wanted Barcelona backup goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen.
The East Londoners were linked with Dutchman Cillessen by the Spanish press recently (Sport, as also reported by Football Oranje and MSN).
The report claimed West Ham ‘love’ the Holland goalkeeper and were ready to rival Everton with a £15million bid.

Valencia help put rumour to bed
It was the most obvious indicator yet that silly season had arrived.
After all West Ham already have one of the best ‘keepers in the Premier League if not Europe in Lukasz Fabianski.
Valencia quickly helped put this particular story to bed on Tuesday when it was announced he was signing for them (Marca).

Hammers Hernandez hope
West Ham will be hoping Valencia follow up the signing of Cillessen by taking Hernandez and his £140,000 per week wages off their hands.
The Mexican told YouTube channel Naked Humans he wants to leave to play in La Liga next season.
In doing so that may also help clear the path for the Hammers to win the race for Gomez.
